The Fort Dodge REC Center offers a two-day lifeguard certification class through the Red Cross for individuals over the age of 15. Under no circumstances will we certify you if you are under 15 by the last day of the class. 

Certification costs $185 and covers the use of the lifeguard manual during class, all materials, and the Red Cross Registration fee.

To participate, you must be able to:

1.) Swim continuously for 200 yards using a combination of front crawl and breaststroke. 

2.) Enter the shallow end of the pool, swim to the deep end, retrieve a 10-pound, return to the shallow end without touching the bottom and exit the pool without using the ladder or steps in under 1 minute and 40 seconds.

3.) Tread water for 3 minutes without the use of your arms
